Dwayne Wade claims that he shoots over 75% on his bank shots and it’s something of a lost art. Scottie Pippen use to do it and Wade says it works especially well on the wings.
Unlike a normal shot where you put arc on it, a bank shot is more of a line drive. Great for when you are off balance or your momentum is carrying your forward.
Shot science actually did a scientific study and found that bank shots increase your percentages by up to 20%!

Bank shot competition game
Front pivot bank shot
When your in the post, the most important thing is your footwork. Master the front and reverse pivots on both sides (4 moves).
- Spin ball to self
- Catch and pivot to shoot bank shot
- Make 10.
- Use a different pivot
Bank shot 3 on 3
3 on 3 but the rule is that you MUST score with a bank shot. Or make bank shots worth 2 points and normal shots 1 point.
Reverse pivot jab bank shot
After you’ve masted the basic front and back pivot, add in extra moves like a jab step or go off 1 foot.
Missing step runner bank shot
The bank shot is great when you have too much momentum moving forward. With this jumper, you’re off balance and moving forward.
